Tonight, Sunday, February 11, 2018 will be a night of ALL THE COMEDY! There is a ridiculous amount of comedy shows happening in one night. It’s impossible to go to all the shows so you literally have to pick only one. It’s either that or you watch the first half of a show and then go watch the last half of another. Who knew Tucson had so much comedy? I will provide for you details of each show to help you decide which one suits you fancy. Each show is worth seeing but when plagued with abundance, there can be only one.
The first show kicking off the evening of entertainment starts at 6:30pm. The Estrogen Hour and Laffs Comedy Caffe proudly present nationally headlining stand-up comedian Lisa Landry, featured on Comedy Central and host of podcast Womenace to Society. Tickets are $20 at the door and there is no word if the show is sold out or not. Be sure to call in advance before making the drive.
Next of the lineup of laughter starting at 7pm is the World-Famous Frank Show Laugh Off Competition at Club Congress featuring local comedians. The Grand Prize winner will get a pair of tickets to see Rob Schneider & David Spade at Casino del Sol’s Event Center on February 15th. The winner will also get dinner for 2, and a one-night Hotel Stay at Casino del Sol. This is a free show.
The Brew haha! Comedy Showcase Featuring Ryan Malco comes in at third starting at 8pm at Borderlands Brewery. Ryan is a New York based stand-up comedian, but he is originally from Tucson. Ryan has handpicked this line up and if you know anything about him, you know he has great taste. Brew haha! will also feature local comedians and this is a free show. This is Tucson’s longest running independent comedy show.
The final flourish of funny starts at 9pm at The Flycatcher. The C*nts Being C*nts Talking About C*nts Comedy Show features comedy, music, and poetry all performed by local ladies of laughter and literature. This is another free show and they will be collecting supplies (sanitary napkins, tampons, menstrual cups) and monetary donations for YWCA Southern Arizona’s Project Period.
That should be enough to keep everyone busy on a Sunday evening. It’s very possible to see more than one show but choose wisely. Each of these shows will be fantastic so whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed. This writer only plans on seeing one show. Can you guess which one it will be? You’ll just have to pick a show and see if you find me. Remember that there are several comedy open mic events Monday through Friday throughout Tucson and there is a special comedy show, The Galentine’s Show, featuring females of funny, tomorrow, Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Surly Wench Pub. Now go Laugh Out Loud!
