Artist Spotlight: Slideshow Fairytales

Parental Advisory: Explicit Content

Who are you and what do you do?

Slideshow Fairytales is comedic multimedia storytelling. Picture one-part Spalding Gray monologue, one-part business presentation gone awry, and one part PG-13 fairytale.

Why does it matter?

In a world of seemingly constant bad news, Slideshow Fairytales aims to not only make you forget your troubles with laughter, but to take your troubles, kick them in the stomach, and then laugh in their face while they’re bent over in pain.

When did you realize performing was what you wanted to do?

Slideshow Fairytales first performance was March 2013. After a rousing welcome to the performance world but an unforgettable audience, it was obvious that Slideshow Fairytales wouldn’t be a one-off project.

Do you remember what it was like in the beginning?

It was scary and exciting because it was something I had never done before. Slideshow Fairytales is a solo performance, so all of the pressure falls onto a single pair of shoulders.

What is your dream performance?

As long as there is plenty of laughter, every performance is a dream performance and every audience is a dream audience.

The unnamed creator of PowerPoint.

Which living person do you most despise?
