Artist Spotlight: Karl Haas

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m an actor/singer on stage and screen and I do voiceovers. I am also a retired Army Lieutenant-Colonel.

Why does it matter?

I hope to help others find better answers to life questions and enlightenment through my performances.

When did you realize performing was what you wanted to do?

In high school, but finances made me decide to wait until retirement. Now I pursue this as a full-time passion!

Do you remember what it was like in the beginning?

It made me nervous in the beginning, but success at it, always made me try more difficult performances that still made me nervous. It’s a natural high!

What is your dream performance?

My dream performance changes as I progress. I enjoy dreaming of 3 or 4 things that are just out of reach, so that I am always achieving at least one of them.

Which living person do you most admire?

I avoid admiring any one person too much. It might make me forget all the little admirable things that so many people do to help others. I try never to forget all those who may help me, and I try to help them, as I am able.

What is the quality you most like in a person (man or woman)?

I admire generosity most. That quality that makes one truly help others. I do not mean enabling someone who is unappreciative by this– that hurts others.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Just to be in teamwork with other performers. I hope my greatest achievement is always in the future.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually, or emotionally?
